Robin Dey

As grown up with so many odds, my childhood was accompanied with some books and not with games. I went through so many books, from science to religion. One day I had found a book in my sisters table, written by Rangman. That was Bhaskar aru Sarpa Sanyasi, and thereafter I preferred to read all books written by Rangman. In fact Rangman was a pseudo name of Robin Dey. Though a Bengali speaker, Robin Dey wrote in Assamese language. His two series of books, Pawan series for children and Bhaskar series for youth, was popular then and even today in a section of Assamese reader. His language is so rich that one cannot forget.

Robin Dey was born in Nazira of Sibsagar district, Assam on 1927. He was imprisoned in his schooldays as he had joined in the struggle for freedom for India. He had completed his matriculation in 1943 and then leaved for Calcutta for higher education. Later, in Calcutta, he had joined in the Soviet Embassy in 1960. Rabin Dey was an actor, too. He breathed his last on July 22, 1980.
