Diganta Oza with Homen Borgohain

A journalist, author and columnist by profession, Homen Borgohain (b. 1932, Dhakuakhona, North Lakhimpur, Assam) is a name of repute is Assamese literature. Honoured with Sahitya Academy and Assam Valley Award, Mr. Borgohain penned so many books till date. Pita Putra, Saudor Puteke Nao Meli Jai, Halodhiya Choraye Baodhan Khai, Subala, Timir Tirtha, Matsya Gandha, Astaraag are a few among his popular novels. Subala, based on the life of a prostitute created sensation in its very first appearance. His non-fiction includes Atmanusandhan, Dhumuha Aru Ramdhenu, Mor Hriday Ekhon Juddhakhetra (all are autobiographical), Ananda Aru Bedonar Sandhanot, Anwesa, Gadyar Sadhona, Manuh Howar Gourav etc. Two Assamese feature films Gorokhiya and Matsyagandha were based on Borgohain’s short story and novel respectively.

Mr. Borgohain was the founder editor of the Amar Asom, an Assamese daily, where Diganta Oza was the deputy news editor. Borgohain, on the preface of Diganta’s philosophical introspective book Sandhikhyanat Manuh wrote a few lines praising him.
